Lets learn about the stages in the cherry jam manufacturing process | #keynote #animatedstory

Lets learn about the stages in the cherry jam manufacturing process, beginning with collecting cherries from cherry trees and transporting the raw material to the manufacturing plant and ending with labelling the cherry jam jars

Plant cherry trees in early spring or late fall (when the ground is soft and has a higher moisture content) in a sunny site

Cherry trees need deep, well-drained soil and good air circulation.
Soil preparation
Different varieties of cherry trees flourish in slightly different soils. Generally, cherries prefer a moderate pH of 6 or 7

FACTS
The most popular varieties range from the dark red to purplish black bing cherries are usually made from Royal Ann cherries.

Apply mulch and water well.

Cherry trees generally start bearing fruit in their fourth year

A cherry year, a merry year

Most fresh cherries are available from
May (June for sour cherries) through August.

For home use, cherries are picked when fully mature.

Harvest quality Cherries in good condition

They can be harvested when still slightly immature, when they are turning from green-yellow to red.

Keep the harvested produce in good condition (protected from rain, sun or animals) until it is consumed or sold

Hand-picking may injure the shoots and cause infection; Cut the stalks with scissors.

Once picked, cherries are quickly processed and sent to market

Contact the buyers so that the crop can be sold at a good price

Sweet Cherries are best eaten fresh as
their delicate flavour don’t stand up to cooking well

These Cherries are the varieties used in jams, tarts, pies, etc.

The cherries along with leaves and stems are collected and transported to the processing plant.

The cherries are cooked and extra ingredients such as lemon juice, sugar and pectin are introduced to the mixture for extra flavour

After the cooking is finished, the cherry jam is ready to be checked by the quality control unit

The accepted batches of cherry jam are then poured into glass or plastic jars and finally, a label is stuck on the cherry jam jars.

While some kids enjoy savoury dishes, others enjoy the sweet treats.
