Ingredients
1.5 kg tomatoes
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 tsp chillli powder
Salt to taste
500 ml water

Method
– Roughly cut the tomatoes then put it in the pressure cooker with little bit of water and cook it for 3-4 whistles.
– Allow the pressure to subside and later open the lid of pressure cooker.
– Once done, blend it into very fine puree and run it through the mesh.
– Cook the puree on moderate heat, add brown sugar, white vinegar, chilli powder, salt.
– Let it continue cooking for 15-20 minutes until it becomes thick.
– Put few drops on clean plate, tilt it and if its not runny then the ketchup is ready.
– Put the ketchup into a squeeze bottle.
– And homemade tomato ketchup is ready!

    yours looks lovely… but uk kids are used to the very sweet popular brands… id be inclined to leave chilli out if it was for kids.. and use tomato puree to thicken.. but i am going to start experimenting.. store ketchup has gotten ridiculously expensive

    i don't have a stove top, weighted pressure cooker, mine is an electric one so I have to set it for X minutes – would I pressure cook for 1 minute or 3 or what?

  7. OK forget the recipe, I want to know about that pressure cooker. yes I can use my big electric one but this looks great for smaller batches like this and would take less time to get to pressure! what size is it please? looks to be maybe 1.5 ltr!? Thanks

    3 months of shelflife in room temperature? I've made it earlier with sugar it turned out awesome but wanna make it for my mom with stevia as she's diabetic. Can you please tell how much of stevia shd be added for the same recipe? And how long can I store this sauce in room temperature?

    Brown sugar? Hahahahah! That is white! And no, brown sugar is far from healthy! It's just refined white sugar, with a bit of syrup put back on! hahaah "healthy". Try using unrefined sugar.
