How to Make Italian Tomato Sauce from Fresh Tomatoes 🍅

Today we prepare together the tomato sauce or as it is commonly called in Italy Salsa di Pomodoro 😋. In the video I will use only 6 kg of tomatoes for practical reasons and for those who grow tomatoes in their own garden, so you will only need a few glass jars, 6 basil leaves and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

  1. How to store and how long will this last? What is shelf life ?

  2. its wonderful to see a YT-chef who isn't overweight, and acting "goofy", with GREAT clear-headed techniques. Although, Maestro, you look a little bit "sad" since I last viewed* your videos. I really hope all is OK in your life, mio amico!!! *a year, because I was finishing self-building my latest ECOhome in SW FL, USA. Heyyyy…Life is more than eating, to this old Nord Italiano! 🙂 Now to enjoy the many GREAT videos YOU present. Buona fortuna!

  3. I keep all the tomato water, add a bit of ACV, jar and refrigerate. Its a fantastic substitute for V8 type drink in the winter.

  4. Thank you for the nice video, one question: for how long I can store the tomato sauce?

  5. @18ekalaya87 says:

What about the expired date ?

  6. @Ziphozonke says:

Does it have to stay in a fridge?

  7. @RoyMach1ne says:

My mother dries the skins and mixes them with fine herbs to make a powder.
    We use it on everything!

  8. @WakandaBabe says:

I have seen several videos from Italian people making/storing sauce this way. What keeps botulism from happening? Canning companies say you should boil these jars with the sauce in a water bath.

  9. @ortaparmak says:

Nice. Now let's do melanzane parmigiana alla napolitana. 🙂

  10. @krishnaRVR says:

    Hi,
When it get expired? Any days limit before we must consume it?

  11. Do you need to refrigirate the jars?

  12. Beautiful tomatoes! What a great Bloody Mary base as well😉

  13. Is it tomato sauce or tomato gravy?

  14. I am going to do this. I got some 🍅 today (homegrown)😋 from a lady at work. I'm going to try. Also I'm going to try your beer with fuggles and add flake corn to make like a peroni 😁😆😅

I have an easier process. I purée my tomatoes raw, seeds, skin in my Vitamix blender. I cook it until it is of the consistency that I like and fill my jars as the sauce is boiling. Doing this with hot tomato sauce will not require you to boil the jars to seal them. They will automatically seal. I did over 150 jars this fall for my family. So delicious and no waste. The most nutrients are in the skin and seeds, so don’t discard it.

    how about Swedish tomato sauce

  18. I always use fresh Italians !

  19. For how much time can I store this sauce? And how do I store it (fridge, dark place, etc)?

  20. So much easier, use to cook it till it's thick enough.🤩

  21. ouch!! Please do not throw away tomato water! Refrigerated it makes an excellent drink, or you can use it for soup base.

  25. Thank you to sharing your racipes.🙏God bless you

  26. Have you ever calculate how many jars can make from a kilo of tomatoes ? Here in malta i see it a bit of expensive to compare from ready manufactured jar of tomatoes . By the way it was very interesting and thanks as always .

  27. My mum always put hot jars upside down, it ensures proper vacuum inside jars.
